Key Statistics:
In baseball, the key statistics are Batting Average, On-Base Percentage as well as Strike outs and Home runs. Please answer the following questions:
  1. Why do you think that these four statistics are considered to be the key statistics for managers choosing their team members?
  2. Is one of these statistics more important than another? If so, which one?
  3. Using the copy of Robin Ventura’s baseball card (the handout from class is also in the Pages and Files section), which year did he have the best On-Base Percentage? Remember OB%=(Hits+BB)/(AB+BB). What was that percentage? Was that the same year that he had his highest average? Why do you think that this was or wasn't?
